Shop around for the best mortgage rates.
Compile all paper work the lender will need, including:
Proof of income: name, address, and dates of employment for all employers.
W-2 forms and income taxes from previous 2 years.
Statements from all bank accounts for previous 3 months.
Life insurance net cash value.
Make, model, market value and remaining balance on all vehicles owned.
Name, address and account numbers of all monthly payment obligations, including student loans, credit cards and car payments.
Information on any property sold in previous 2 years. This should include the property address, lender and settlement statements.
Home addresses for previous 7 years, including name and address of landlord, property manager or mortgage company.
